Grove Street Productions Commences Work On A Documentary Feature About George Harrison, To Be Directed By Martin Scorsese And Produced By Martin Scorsese, Olivia Harrison And Nigel Sinclair

On behalf of Grove Street Productions, Olivia Harrison announced today that work has begun on a documentary feature film project about the life and work of her late husband George Harrison, to be directed by Academy Award winner Martin Scorsese, produced by Martin Scorsese through Sikelia Productions, Olivia Harrison through Grove Street Productions, and Nigel Sinclair through Spitfire Pictures.

The Harrison family will make available to the filmmakers materials from their extensive archive. Interviews and early production will commence in late 2007 and the project is expected to take a couple of years to complete. The film will be edited by David Tedeschi, who most recently worked with Scorsese on SHINE A LIGHT and previously on NO DIRECTION HOME: BOB DYLAN. The film will be executive produced by Margaret Bodde for Sikelia Productions.

Martin Scorsese commented: George Harrison’s music and his search for spiritual meaning is a story that still resonates today and I’m looking forward to delving deeper.

Olivia Harrison commented: It would have given George great joy to know that Martin Scorsese has agreed to tell his story.

Nigel Sinclair commented: Having had the pleasure of being one of the producers of NO DIRECTION HOME, it’s an honor to have the opportunity to work with Marty again as well as of course with Olivia Harrison on a story of such great power.
